I feel not-so-good telling you that I have never watched Star Wars franchise even after all the fuss. I watched the first movie of this series which made me realize why the fans had always loved this franchise. Star Wars: The Last Jedi, also known as Star Wars: Episode VIII is a 2017 American epic space opera film. Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the Skywalker saga continues as the heroes of The Force Awakens. The movie takes place right after the events of the first film and is just as intense, with many actions, explosions, space chases, and close-up duels.
The Last Jedi film moves in an interesting range of grays, sacrificing part of the ingenuity and regal values of yesteryear for the despair and bitterness of the times. With tons of action and fight scenes, intense moments, plot twists galore, several people die in battle, in some cases sacrificing themselves for their mission.
In this film, Rey develops her newly discovered abilities with the guidance of Luke Skywalker, who is unsettled by the strength of her powers. Luke Skywalker’s peaceful and solitary existence gets upended when he encounters Rey, a young woman who shows strong signs of the Force. Her wish to learn the ways of the Jedi forces Luke to make a decision that changes their lives forever. Meanwhile, the Resistance prepares to do battle with the First Order. Kylo Ren and General Hux lead the First Order in an all-out assault against Leia and the Resistance for supremacy of the galaxy.
Director Rian Johnson delivers a funny, emotional, suspenseful middle-of-the-trilogy installment that elevates fans’ beloved heroes, moves the story forward, and will delight fans. The battle scenes were epic, it had me on the edge of my seat. There was almost never a dull moment in this film. Star Wars legend Carrie Fisher aka Leia passed away last year and the film is dedicated to her.
